Overview:

The Certificate in Classical Arabic Language has been developed to take students from a beginner’s level in Arabic studies to proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The aim on completion is to provide the student with the necessary foundational tools to begin to interact with the Quran and classical texts independently. The journey begins by setting solid foundations in the language. This will be achieved by introducing the students to fundamental principles of Arabic Grammar and Morphology and familiarizing them with the language in a natural manner. The rules of Arabic Grammar will be taught first, followed by Arabic Morphology and application of rules using our work booklet.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this level, students should be able to:

  • Have a good understanding of the structure of the Arabic language
  • Differentiate between a noun, verb and a particle
  • Identify the components of sentences
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the fundamentals of Arabic Grammar
  • Articulate and identify the 10 Forms
  • Use an Arabic dictionary
  • Begin to interact with the Quran at a basic level, independently
