Shaykh Fakhruddin Owaisi al-Madani is a prominent Islamic scholar based in South Africa. He promotes an understanding of Islam based on moderation & mercy.
Young Islamic Scholar Shaykh Fakhruddin Owaisi comes from a family of notable scholars and saints, descending from the house of the saint of Islam, Sayyidina Owais al-Qarani, who was praised by the Prophet (saw) himself.
Although, born in the USA (1979), Fakhruddin spent the first 18 years of his life and finished his schooling, in blessed City of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. It is also there that he mastered the Science of Qasidah & Na'at rendition.
Shaykh Fakhruddin Owaisi has learnt Islamic Sciences and Spirituality at the feet of various great Shaykhs, including the world famous Hadith scholar and spiritual Master of Makkah, al-Sayyid Muhammad bin Alawi al-Maliki (Grand Shaykh of Makkah), Shaykh Hazim Abu-Ghazaleh (Jordan), Mufti Ghulam Sarwar (Pakistan), Shaykh Ahmad al-Qat’ani (Libya) and Shaykh-al-Islam Imam Hassan Cisse (Senegal).
Shaykh Fakhruddin Owaisi completed a Masters Degree in Islamic Studies at the University of Cape Town with a distinction and also graduated with an Alim Degree from the Islamic College of Southern Africa.
He currently resides in South Africa where he holds the position of Chairman of the Sunni Ulama Council in Cape Town
